Do your research!
You’ll get the most out of Bali if you’ve talked to people who’ve already visited and can suggest places to explore, the best eateries and hidden gems.
Check in, check out
Staying in multiple hotels and villas in different areas is defiantly worth the check in and check out time! You will experience a lot more culture staying more inland and it saves you long days of driving to tourist attractions if you are already close by.
Not only is it the safer option, but a lot of the restaurants and cafes in Bali serve mainly vegetarian and vegan food, which is a great experience to try! If you are staying in Ubud go to Café Vespa – their meals are a 10/10 and under $7 AUD!
The cost of everything in Bali is fairly low, so it’s the perfect opportunity to try those activities you have always wanted to do. I would definitely recommend parasailing, which was so worth the $40 AUD that I paid and such an amazing experience!
Get your shopping fix somewhere else.. but if you do shop, get your haggle on!
Avoid tourist areas such as Seminyak, Legian and Kuta if you’re looking to splash the cash. If you travel inland the prices are dramatically cheaper, and the markets there are much more authentic. Check out the Ubud markets, and don’t forget to barter the prices down!
Any hotel is a good hotel
Even if you’re on a student budget, Bali is definitely the place to say in a hotel. There are so many options to choose from and almost all of them are safe, well-located and without a penny spared on décor. Don’t think you have to stay at an expensive hotel to be treated like royalty, the more affordable options are just as jazzy!
The best coconut ice cream in the world
If you are in Ubud then a visit to Tukies Café is a must! They have remarkable desserts, including coconut ice-cream and fresh young coconuts to drink. Delish.
Day trip to one of the local islands
If you have time, make sure you plan a day trip or overnighter to an island such as The Gili Islands. It is a remarkable experience with most islands using horse and cart and push bikes to get around.
And finally…. Make the most of each moment, see, explore and do!
